About Me

album cover 1

After seeing the potential of where my songs might go, he introduced me to veteran engineer producer Steve Avedis, whose credits include big names like Tony Bennet and N’SYNC. Steve introduced me to Tom Capek, studio sound recording engineer. Without these four people and the talent they posses this CD would not be possible. I've met many professionals in my life but none come close to the unique abilities they have, each of them being able to see the diamond in the rough. Thank you all. Creating tunes was something that came easy to me, even after the long layoff. My songwriting skills were a different story. I bought many books and spent many hours reading, how to write a song. You can't just write what you feel it has to be mixed in and nurtured like a fine wine. I learned to address my feelings and experiences and translate them into lyrics.

My music does not fit into one genre. It's all rock with a hint of jazz, country, blues and funk. I follow where the music takes me. A phrase, a chord progression or an experience can send me in a new musical direction.

I hope you will enjoy traveling down my diverse musical path. Happy listening!

Who or what is Lo Torc?
A band I created in my mind. Not that I won't have one later, but in reality, the band is just me, my music, a producer, a sound engineer (both with ears that would put a bat to shame) and studio musicians. I wrote the songs but everyone involved had an immense impact on how they turned out. I play the guitar but couldn't hold a candle to super guitarist Randy Chavez. I play it well enough to write diversified songs given the right chord progressions thanks to Jim Remington, songwriting and guitar teacher. Without his knowledge I'd still be writing songs from the 60's. Also without the other studio musicians, Tom Capek (keyboards, synthesizer, computer wizard), Bob Rebholtz (Saxophones), John Macy (steele guitar), Ernie Martinez (Dobro), Beth Avedis (lead and background vocals), Greg Jacyszyn, (background vocals), all this would just be your typical CD that you would sell to your friends because a radio station wouldn’t play it. Finally, there's one person that is hard working, a good listener and more dedicated to making my songs the best they can be and that is Steve Avedis. Listen to the music and then you'll know why.

What does Lo Torc stand for?
The Lo is for my first name, Lorenzo, and the Torc is for my last name, Torrez. I wanted my initials to stand out in case I couldn't create a band. I researched many books trying to find something with LT, (also my nickname) and Lo Torc was the best I could come up with. My thoughts were, using the big L&T would make for a smoother transition.
Why did you sell your business?
To pursue the dream that's been locked up inside of me since I was a kid. I've always had passion for everything I do, whether it is work, sports or music. I pour my heart into it. Music was always number one even though I couldn't do anything with it till later in life. I should consider myself lucky. A lot of people with a lot of talent have to work a real job to support a family so they never fully exploit their gift.

Why are some of your lyrics so controversial?
I don't pull any punches. I tell it like it is. Why waste a good story line by beating around the bush. If you're going to say something, say it with feeling. Not every song makes everybody happy. There's a lot of sadness in this world. I don't condone it or exploit it, I just write about it. By the way, I do write happy songs too.
